And then there are some places where there are some things that are so good, they almost make you cry with joy?
I had just such an experience with Mirchili a month or so ago. My sister had gone there with her friends and brought back home khao suey. My mom said I have to try it because it's really good. Now I had my doubts because the best khao suey I have ever had were made by an old friend from Memon origins way back in the early 2000s. From then till now, those were the best khao suey I have ever had. Mirchili comes in as the closest alternative I could find to those. The packaging was nicely done with all the condiments packed in nice little ziplock bags. The noodles and curry came separately in commercially available plastic boxes.
Now for me, the most important part of a good khao is the curry. It helps when the condiments are perfect. Everything was fresh, the curry was tangy, flavorful, the boiled egg was perfectly yellow, the mirchi chips were good ol' Nimco.
The serving that came back with my sister was enough for 2 people and definitely satiated my khao craving. I know where to go when my next khao suey craving hits me!
