NYC Love

Going with a friend for a meeting regarding work, I couldn't think of a better place than NYC to enjoy a cup of coffee and cake in the evening. Before the cake, I of course wanted something savory and spicy to nibble on, but because I couldn't decide between the wings and the mozzarella sticks, we went for the sampler platter.  And what a good choice it was! It had everything from the aforementioned wings to mini burgers, chicken tenders and fried onion rings, It was served with barbecue, honey mustard, blue cheese & buffalo sauce. I won't lie about it. I ate everything with the buffalo sauce. My friend ordered another serving of honey mustard but had to stop himself from ordering a third because we were about to have cheesecake. NYC is one of those comfortable places where the staff will be at a comfortable distance and will also give you privacy. With the expanse of space available, they will never push you to leave the premise when they see you're done eati

Goodsies Cupcakes.

When there is a special event that warrants a cake, I either trust my own taste buds or my buds buds (Get it?) And what could be more special than celebrating both my parents' birthdays together? Since I wanted something different this year, I turned to my friends for advice and they vociferously vouched for Goodsies Cupcakes. So happily I placed my order on a fair weathered Tuesday, requiring the cake to be delivered at 5 p.m. via Delivery Chacha on the 16th of August. There  was no fussy fondant required, no two-tiered layers needed. Just a simple chocolate cake, with 'Happy birthday, Ami and Abu written on it. Lo and behold, along came Sunday, 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. with no sign of any cake. By the time 7:30 rolled around I was really upset, thinking that Delivery Chacha had messed up my order. Unfortunately when I got in touch with Uzma, the owner of Goodsies, I was disappointed to find the order had been overlooked due to human error and while I understood how it had

Feeling the Love at Dragonfly Kitchen

You know the saying, 'The way to a man's heart is through his stomach'? Well, either that saying applies to anyone who loves food or I'm a man. And I'm definitely not a man. What appeals to me more than the first impression of any eatery, is the consistency with which they continue their service and menu. At Dragonfly Kitchen, Farhan is doing a spectacular job with not only maintaining consistency in the products already available on the menu, he is also constantly surprising his customers with new, and even better delightful concoctions. Brownie Buttered Toast Scrambled Eggs Warm Brownie and Custard Toasted  Chicken  and  Cheese Sandwich Now allow me to share my delectable experience over the past few days with Dragonfly Kitchen. Located on main I.I.Chundrigar Road, my lunchtime has been ruled entirely by it. Over the past few days, I have tried and loved the following: - Tomato and Basil Soup: This was way better than what I mak

OMG Options

So did you know that if the tables are full at OMG, you can walk to Pizzo which is literally 4 shops down from OMG and have your order delivered there? And that while you're waiting you can order mozzarella sticks and jalapeño cheese balls? 2 thumbs up for that convenience!

The Poached Pear's Decadent Delight

So it's not a surprise that I love The Poached Pear. I love everything Yasha has ever created, from the lemon meringue to the pavlova to the chocolate tart. And who am I to say no to a new dessert my fellow food lover wants to send over? When Yasha told me he has created an alternative to his original Lindt chocolate tart with Belgian chocolate who did a happy dance? I did a happy dance! Since I had half a tart to share, I wasn't stingy and shared it with my family. Now keep in mind my father takes 3 teaspoons of sugar in his tea. So he basically drinks sugar with tea, not tea with sugar. Let me tell you he liked the dessert so much, he asked for the price so he could share the joy with friends and family. Needless to say, everyone else in the family loved it as well. It wasn't just one element of the Belgian Chocolate Tart that was exceptionally good. The tart crust was flaky, buttery, crisp, but not so hard that it was difficult to fork through. The salted caramel

Dragonfly's Delights

Some places just keep on blowing me away with the beautiful things they come up with. Combine it with a healthy twist, and you have a keeper! From the very first day, Farhan of Dragonfly's Kitchen amazed me with the delicious wraps, panna cotta and brownies he sent along with a healthy dip tray. And then he just didn't stop. Burgers, pastas, wrap variations, and the very latest, Le Poulet. This review will be waxing lyrical about a little bit of everything I've tried lately from Dragonfly's Kitchen. Firstly the Mucho Macho Wrap. This was a beef wrap with an oriental feel to it, at least for me. Of course as with all of Dragonfly's offerings, this was fresh, healthy and bang on in terms of textures and flavors. The beef was succulent, the sauce just enough to add the salt quotient into the mix of beef, fresh vegetables and wholewheat wrap. If I haven't spoken about the Dragon's Mouth Burger, I apologize. This burger is your answer to a burger that

Eid with Emaan's Cakes

I know I'm pretty late on the bandwagon because Emaan's Cakes has been around for awhile and is very popular. Better late than never though, right? We're quite lucky to have such wonderful family friends who drop off the most delicious cakes on Eid. This time we got Emaan's chocolate fudge cake, I believe. Pardon me if I got the name wrong. But this cake was one of the most intensely chocolate, fudgy, perfectly balanced cakes in terms of sponge-icing ratio. I'm so glad I had that humongous beauty to glutton on the entire Eid week!

Khao Suey at Mirchili

You know how you get to hear negative reviews about certain places and they just keep on coming and coming and coming to the point where no matter how much of an open mind you have, you end up saying, 'Nope' every time said places is suggested? And then there are some places where there are some things that are so good, they almost make you cry with joy? I had just such an experience with Mirchili a month or so ago. My sister had gone there with her friends and brought back home khao suey. My mom said I have to try it because it's really good. Now I had my doubts because the best khao suey I have ever had were made by an old friend from Memon origins way back in the early 2000s. From then till now, those were the best khao suey I have ever had. Mirchili comes in as the closest alternative I could find to those. The packaging was nicely done with all the condiments packed in nice little ziplock bags. The noodles and curry came separately in commercially available plas
