This or That?

I had recently read a few positive reviews of a new delivery place called This or That. The name is concise, catchy, cute. But was the food itself worth the calories? I intended to find out, because this is a model based on Whole Slice. Delivery-based app, no calls and no hassle of explaining directions. Also, burgers and pizza are a weakness. I'm always on the lookout for a good burger and pizza place, and this promised to be a 2-in-1. This being burgers and that being pizza, I presume. Last week I was craving a good burger and decided to download the app and give the 'this' in This or That a try. App was downloaded as easily as most are, and I logged in. Scrolled down to check out all the products and then attempted to scroll back up to the top. I couldn't. My poor thumb hasn't gotten this much exercise ever. I switched to my index finger and attempted to scroll up again. I couldn't. Scrolling up really shouldn't be 'this' hard. So I refreshed t...

Eberle's Cuisine

It's never too late to write a good review, and this one is definitely a good one. For all those friends of mine who love dark chocolate, this is a treat. Eberle's Cuisine makes an amazing dark chocolate cake which I give full credit to my friend Lailumah for discovering and recommending I try. So during a hectic work week where I felt I deserved a treat, I decided to take up the offer and give this delicious-sounding dessert a taste test. Was this cake a treat? Oh, yes it was! However, if you don't love dark chocolate don't even try to like it. This is decadently rich dark chocolate cake, almost mousse like in texture and extremely smooth on the palette. It originally came with a raspberry sauce, as is shown in the picture, but is now being served with clotted cream which is the perfectly sweet stark contrast to the bitterness of the excellent quality dark chocolate. If I had a party for dark chocolate lovers, this cake would definitely be my dessert of choice. ...

A Pastry Soiree

Disclaimer: This is going to be a 3-in-1 review which I'll try to keep as brief as possible, but don't count on it.  A few months ago, I was invited to a taste testing of a few desserts made by a friend's friend. The friendship was instant as was the love for her desserts. A few weeks later, we met up again and all of us encouraged her to start up her own business from home. Seeing all the encouragement, my friend decided to give it a go.  I am very happy to introduce A Pastry Soiree ( Facebook page ) which boasts a wide variety of desserts, the entire list of which you'll find once you click on the link provided. I only promote this venture after I have tried several of her desserts,  The first of which are the white chocolate blondies, which are the perfect brownies, soft and gooey on the inside, yet sturdy enough that they don't break when you bite into them, and dotted throughout with white chocolate. I loved them and I'm not even fond of white c...

Amazing Thai-The Old And The New

Ever since I first started using Amazing Thai, I've pretty much become a regular client. The last time I treated myself to their goodies was in October, with a large basket of some staples such as the Mama ramen and Pocky sticks. Fast forward almost 2 months later, I come home from work to some complimentary yummies courtesy Amazing Thai. Why? Because I hadn't ordered in a while and they missed me. Amazing customer service, isn't it? So as you can see from the pictures, these were no samples but full size packages of Poco's caramel popcorn and Samui coconut chips. The coconut chips were already a favorite. Sweet, crispy and perfect to satiate the munchies. Fun fact, toddlers love this stuff. Tested and tried on at toddlers aged two and above. The caramel popcorn is perfect for movie nights at home. I mean, you could share it with one other person, but I don't share my food so all mine. Amazing Thai, keep up the amazing customer service! ...

Whole Slice-The New King of Pizza

Here's a fun fact-Whole Slice is the brainchild of the Evergreen owners. Most people in Karachi who are into healthy eating know about Evergreen. Just like their Evergreen line, the owners created Whole Slice with the claim of making it the smart way of eating pizza, without compromising on quality. No surprise there, considering I loved the sandwiches, but didn't feel the Rs. 150 delivery charge justified the sandwich I tried ( Blog here ). Fun fact, I have to pay Rs. 100 delivery charges for Whole Slice as well. Is it worth the price? Read on to find out! One evening I was craving a pizza, but wanted to try something new. Tapping into good ol' Google, I found Whole Slice, an app I simply needed to download and order my pizza through. Taking a risk since I wasn't too hangry, I went ahead and downloaded it. The app itself is easy to navigate, and has ten choices to take your pick from, including a 'Build Your Own' option, which is awesome for the particular p...

Baba Biryani-The Best Biryani in Town?

Sundays are amazing, magical days of sleeping and eating. This particular Sunday was made even more magical with my waking up to biryani from a new place called Baba Biryani. Claiming to be made with fresh ingredients in hygienic conditions, which is still left to be determined since I haven't seen the premise where its made, it's definitely delicious, and one of the best tasting biryanis I've had outside the house. And I'm very fussy about my biryani. It has to be spicy, the rice has to be khila khila and the chicken/meat has to be tender. Baba Biryani followed through on all counts. The masala was perfect, the rice was of good quality, the meat was tender and the potatoes were soft and fluffy. There was a bit too much oil for my liking, but not so much that I was unable to eat it. I tried both the chicken and the beef biryanis. The chicken was slightly less spicy, but still pretty good. The beef biryani was my favorite. Slightly more spicier than the chicken birya...

Wingitt-The House of Wings

I love chicken wings. I love them in all sizes, no discrimination. Some like them really big, some like them boneless. Me, I enjoy them all. Give them to me coated in Buffalo sauce, and I'll be one happy girl. I stumbled upon Wingitt quite by accident, when I went to pick up flowers from Just Flowers next door (A beautiful little flower shop with an amazing variety, by the way). It's a little shop, nothing to boast of, but has made the most of its space. Spotlessly clean, there is a small seating area, with cute red metal buckets serving as napkin holders and a small bottle of Dettol hand sanitizer on each table. Wingitt has a large variety of sauces to go along with the classic and boneless wings it serves, the details of which I will go into in a bit. There are also sides such as wedges, chicken strips and a variety of fries which I have yet to try. You can get 4, 8, 16 or 24 wings with a choice of 1 or 4 flavors. There are also different combos, which don't have bon...
