You know how some places keep on evolving and expanding as time goes on? This primarily stems from a personal desire to invest into and consider new avenues of deliciousness for one's customers. Because let's face it, we are all always looking for something new and it doesn't take a lot to take our attention away from a once-favorite food item we couldn't live without.
Which is why when Dragonfly Kitchen introduced it's new range of sandwiched this past week, I was quite excited to try them. Knowing the desire to use fresh ingredients, play around with a range of flavors, along with keeping the prices easy on one's pocket, I wasn't surprised that I loved each and everyone of these sandwiches.
1. Chicken Sandwich with Avocado and Cilantro Twist Dressing: Number one on my list of favorites. The chicken is poached to succulent tenderness. The dressing is spread on the bread, giving it the creamy, herby, sour punch this sandwich needs to come together. The crunchy greens and juicy tomatoes intensify all those flavors up to a whole new level. Can you tell I love this yet?
2. Beef with Tzatziki Crunch Sandwich: Let me clarify one thing before I wax eloquent about this particular sandwich. I hate beetroot. I detest it. I avoid it like the plague. And when I was told this sandwich had beetroot in it, I refused. Said not happening, sorry no. However, when I was pressed upon to try it, I acquiesced on the condition that if I don't like it, retribution will be had. So when I got the sandwich, I thought about taking the beetroot out multiple times but literally bit the bullet and tried the sandwich. Can I just say this is one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long while? Juicy strips of beef, that went along amazingly well with the tzatziki dressing and the beetroot was extremely understated. This sandwich was a much loved by all who tried it.
3. Egg Romano Sandwich: The pictures speaks for itself. The sandwich is eggy, tomatoey, mustardey goodness filled with peppery rocket, or arugula, whatever you'd like to call it. Since most my school life has revolved around egg sandwiches for lunch, this was a nostalgic treat.
These sandwiches are the perfect accompaniment to one of Dragonfly's Tomato and Basil or Carrot and Ginger soups. I usually feel extremely full after half a sandwich and the soup. Another reason I can't wait for winter to come this year, are these sandwiches and soups from DFK!
