An insomniac blogger without coffee does not a good blogger make...and yet here I am, typing away at my computer after consuming one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. It's basic, but then again, so am I. And said good breakfast was only made possible by Tahir Karimi of Kakes by Karimi and his gorgeous croissants.
It would be fair to say that I was quite skeptical of finding someone who served the kind of croissants I was looking for; soft, buttery, flaky, yet holding its own integrity. So rich that no extra butter is required. When Tahir told me he had the perfect croissant, I didn't take his word for it, and in fact didn't even order them from him until a day ago. I honestly didn't even recall how much they cost at the time, all I remembered was the 'What if these aren't good?' thought making itself home in my head. Surprised I was when the price for half a dozen croissants was Rs. 700. That makes one croissant priced at Rs. 116. With all the butter, time and effort that goes into making these babies, if that isn't reasonable, I don't know what is.
Not only are they reasonably priced, these croissants are made with quality ingredients. Don't believe me? Order them for yourself and bite into one. You'll faint from pleasure and then we can talk, okay? Okay! It's safe for this insomniac, coffee-less individual to say that I quite enjoyed a croissant as a full meal. Considering that I have been unwell and consequently unable to keep food down for more than an hour post consumption, it was a delight to sleep comfortably for the rest of the night.
This morning for breakfast, I decided to treat myself and made a breakfast sandwich with 2 slices of bologna and half a teaspoon of mayonnaise nestled into one croissant. I know I could have spruced it up, but I didn't want to risk slicing my finger(s) along with tomatoes and cucumbers, but man did that hit the spot. I'll be going to sleep with a tummy full of yummies.
